Italian, Spanish and Portuguese Newspapers compete for information about Cristiano Ronaldo. Little by little, the numbers are getting closer. Today, first plausible estimates of the cost of operation CR7 are possible.
In 2002, Juventus Turin had tried to Recruit Cristiano Ronaldo, then 17, from Sporting Portugal by offering 5 million euros plus Chilean forward Marcelo Salas. The latter had refused to join the Lisbon club, blocking the operation. 16 years later, La Vieille Dame is closer than ever to achieving the biggest coup of the summer mercato by pulling the Portuguese international from Real Madrid. For a much higher price but ultimately relatively low compared to the market price and the player’s service record.
All foreign media agree on the price of the transfer: Yes, CR7 is available for € 100m. A price which has obviously upset the main interested party. According to O Jogo, Record but also Leggo or As, an agreement was reached between the player, aged 33, and Juve around a 4-year contract and a salary of € 30m net per season. That’s € 60 million Gross. The calculation is quickly made : 100 M€ transfer + 4 x€ 60 Million (€240 Million) = 340 M€.
Another little bonus for the sporting CP
The cost of Cristiano Ronaldo’s operation will therefore weigh heavily in the Turin accounts, even though the Piedmontese have planned to get rid of Gonzalo Higuain. An agreement has already been reached with Chelsea for an amount of € 60 million. But Juve is not alone in the story. It intends to rely on the support of the CFA (the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group, born from the merger between Fiat, property of the Agnelli family, which owns Juventus Turin, and Chrysler). Cristiano Ronaldo could thus become one of the ambassadors of the car brand, especially since he is not linked to any other car manufacturer.
As for adidas, the turinese destination would be ideal since it has recovered the right to equip it in 2016, instead of Nike (personal equipment manufacturer of Cristiano Ronaldo), by doubling the offer of its competitor. The arrival of CR7 would be a marketing jackpot. Besides, some jerseys of the Juventus Turin already display the name of the Portuguese, flocked with his eternal number 7. It should also be noted that the Sporting CP and the Nacional Madeira are rubbing their hands with this unexpected movement : in fact, the training clubs of the player would recover€ 2.25 M and€ 250,000 respectively as training allowances with this new transfer.
