Tottenham digested his defeat against Barça in the champions League (2-4). The Spurs had a third win in the league with a 1-0 win over Cardiff on Saturday at Wembley, thanks to a goal from Eric Dier. The team of Mauricio Pochettino temporarily dislodged Chelsea from third place on the podium and returned to a length of Manchester City and Liverpool.

Tottenham was the union minimum. Facing Cardiff City on the eighth day of the Premier League, the Spurs won 1-0, thanks to a goal scored by Eric Dier early in the game. If the three points are in the pocket, on the other hand, Mauricio Pochettino’s men did not reassure in the game, in their stadium of Wembley this Saturday afternoon. Tottenham temporarily took third place in the standings, before the rest of the day.

You shouldn’t have fallen into the trap. After a defeat against FC Barcelona (2-4) this week in the champions League, Tottenham, still deprived of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, was keen to take the lead in the Premier League. Against him, Cardiff City, promoted this season and 19th before the kickoff. The Spurs ideally entered their encounter. In the repair area, Eric Dier took over a head from Davinson Sanchez (8′). In addition to opening the scoring for his team, the British international put an end to a long drought in the league, which had not scored since April 2017. The break could have been made shortly before the break but Lucas Moura (39′, 42′) or Son (45′) did not know how to concretize their chances.
Lloris and his defense have (yet) been scaring

Despite good intentions, the Lilywhites have not been very serene, especially in defense. Hugo Lloris took a long time to get into his game. After a first completely missed out on Josh Murphy, the Frenchman was lucky enough to be perfectly replaced by his defender Toby Alderweireld, author of a rescue on the line (23′). After that, the French goalkeeper was decisive (41st, 64th), enough to prevent the equalisation.

All the more so as Cardiff City found itself at 10 in the hour of play, after the direct expulsion of Joe Ralls (58′). On the power play, the Bluebirds didn’t try anything. Tottenham won without breaking even and went on to win the league for the third time in a row, after Brighton and Huddersfield. In addition to temporarily climbing the podium, the Spurs put pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City. The co-leaders clash on Sunday (17: 30).

In the other afternoon results, Watford experienced a real clavary. At home, the Hornets, who made an excellent start to the season with four wins in as many matches, lost to Bournemouth (0-4). Provisionally 5th, the Cherries have the second best Premier League attack. For his part, Leicester fell at home against Everton (1-2). Note the goal of the equalisation scored by former Nice Ricardo Pereira for the Foxes and the fourth achievement in as many meetings of Gylfi Sigurdsson for the Toffees. Wolverhampton went on to win a sixth game without defeat, after his short win at Crystal Palace (0-1). Finally, Burnley and Huddersfield parted on a draw (1-1).
