You are one of the greatest athletes in the world. How do you explain that at 36, you still dominated the field with such ease ?
Cristiano Ronaldo : It’s all about relentlessness and regularity to keep his body at the top of its shape. But I must admit that it is difficult to work very intensively, and at the same time perfectly recover. And I’m not just talking about a matchday, but the weeks, months and years that follow. Regularity on length is one of the most important things, and as you can see, my longevity is great. I am 36 years old today, and I can still compete with the best players while maintaining the form of my 20 years. It’s not easy every day, but once again, regularity is the secret.
Precisely, how do you recover properly after a sports training?
As I told you, recovery is paramount. If you can recover properly after a workout, you will be much better in the next session, and in turn, in the next game. I use my Theragun, a massage gun with controlled percussion, almost every day. It’s very simple, I recommend it to everyone ! It is used all over the body to relax the muscles. But I must admit that the soles of my feet are my favorite area for instant relaxation. In parallel, I also do cryotherapy, I stay hydrated H24 and I am never in debt of sleep. And of course, I always opt for a healthy meal soon after training.
What do you think it means to regain control of your own body ?
My body is the most important thing for me, it’s my weapon. Since your body and mind control absolutely everything, you need to take great care of it. And that’s what I do, every day, with regularity and intensity.
